Frequently asked questions
Where does this salary and demand data come from?
Every number is calculated live from the active job postings in japply, collected from several job boards. Salary ranges use the pay disclosed in postings in USD. Demand counts are open, unexpired listings.
How is the median salary calculated?
The tool takes the midpoint of each posting's disclosed salary range, then reports the 25th percentile, median and 75th percentile across all matching US postings. Only postings with a credible range count.
Why do some roles show no salary range?
Many employers don't publish pay. When too few matching postings show a salary, the range is hidden instead of showing an unreliable number. Open roles and locations still show.
How current is the data?
Postings sync daily and expired listings are dropped, so the numbers cover roughly the last few weeks of hiring.
How do I use this for my job search?
Use the median to set your salary expectations, see where hiring is busiest, and note the skills employers ask for. Then put the ones you really have into your resume.
